• “Kids at Home”: Some advice on keeping organised

The world feels like quite an uncertain place right now. Students all over the world are suddenly having to learn to work from home, adjust their goals and find new ways to motivate themselves without the structures and human contact which usually keep them on track. It is hard, and it is strange. We are here to help the parents communicate to kids how to maintain productivity, efficiency and structure with these new parameters in place.

One of the great problems with uncertainty is that what we don’t know can cause as much stress as what we do. It is at times like this that we need support, we need communities and we need to keep moving forward, even when we’re stuck in one place.

The world may be chaotic right now, but your child’s day doesn’t need to be; here are some ideas for structuring their time so everyone feels calm, energised and purposeful.

Structure the hours in the day and design the perfect daily routine by sticking to the kids’s school schedule, but filling it with all the other things they may have wanted to learn but never had the time. There’s so much available on our online timetable, both academic and extra curricular, kids can choose for themselves and thus feel independent and responsible for their own choices.

Make the most of the time you have now by getting ahead for next year. This is especially important if the student is Year 10 or Year 12; much better to be one of the students hitting the ground running in September, having kept brains sharp with some study this summer, than to be one of the people who’ve lost a whole term and are frantically scrambling to catch up.

And most of all, every morning, try and make one clear plan of action for your day. You should have a time table, even at your kitchen table.

You could consider using Adapt, the free study planner app designed and built for students. Adapt does all of this organisation for you- allowing you to instantly start working from home with all the structure you had at school. In these difficult times, the challenges may have changed, but our support remains the same. We’re here for you, no matter what test you may be facing.
